Kaziranga National Park : 

  • For those of you who have thought Indian one-horned rhinoceros only existed in Jurassic-era, then a trip to Kaziranga must be in your travel list. Kaziranga National park’s 430 square kilometer area showered with swampy lagoons, elephant-grass meadows, and dense forests are home to more than 2200 Indian one-horned rhinoceros, approximately 2/3rd of their total world population.
  • This park is the breeding ground of elephants, the iconic Greater one-horned rhinoceros, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. Over time, the tiger population has also increased in Kaziranga, and that’s the reason why Kaziranga was declared as Tiger Reserve in 2006.
  • Undoubtedly, Kaziranga National Park a world heritage site is famous for the Great Indian one-horned rhinoceros but its the presence of the Brahmaputra river, which makes it look enigmatic.
  • The amazing wildlife conservation activities have made the park successfully manage to grow the population of Greater one-horned rhinoceros, an endangered species.

Dirang :

  • In the whole of Arunachal Pradesh, you will literally be introduced to paradise in this little village Dirang.
  • Dirang a beautiful hill station comprising Tribal Mahayana Monapas sharing their traditions and heritage which are similar to Western Bhutan. 
  • Dirang is located on a picturesque valley in between Bomdilla and Tawang and due to its lower altitude than Bomdila the weather is much milder & comfortable, a constant wind blows along the river valley making it a very pleasant place to stay.

    Kaziranga declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985 for its unique natural environment .It is inhabited by the world’s largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses, as well as many mammals, including tigers, elephants, panthers and bears, and thousands of birds. Kaziranga is popularly known as the home of the “Big Five” – the elephant, rhinoceros, wild buffalo, tiger and Swamp Deer

    Before You Go

    • To go to ARUNACHAL PRADESH, Inner Line Permit are needed for both Indian and Foreign Nationals
    • To visit BUM-LA(the Indo-China border above 16,500 ft above sea level) and SANGET-SAR LAKE (popularly known as Madhuri Lake ), a 3 nights stay at Tawang is required as permits to visit both are required.
    • Do carry comfortable footwear and clothing which will blend with nature. Traveling with toddlers and infants is not recommended as safari should be the least noisy activity for the best experience!
    • Permits for safari: The park safaris should be booked in advance and photo ID proof {passport copy (overseas and Indian Nationals), voters ID, Pan Card, driving license} is required to book the safaris. Different charges apply for Indian national and Foreign nationals.
    • Carry adequate cash in Indian currency as ATMs might not be available in remote areas
    • Carry at least one of your identity proofs

    Day-by-Day Itinerary

    Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati and Transfer to Bhalukpong

    Arrive in Guwahati and begin your journey towards Bhalukpong, known as the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh. Visit the Tipi Orchidarium, home to over 2600 varieties of orchids and a must-visit for nature lovers.

    Day 2: Bhalukpong to Dirang

    Travel to Dirang, a scenic hill town surrounded by beautiful landscapes. En route, visit the Bomdila Monastery and take in the panoramic views of the Eastern Himalayas. Explore Dirang Dzong (Fort) and the natural hot water springs nearby.

    Day 3: Dirang to Tawang

    Drive to Tawang, one of the most scenic destinations in Arunachal Pradesh. Pass through Sela Pass (13,700 feet) with breathtaking views of the snow-clad mountains. Visit the Jaswant Garh War Memorial on the way, a tribute to an Indian soldier who fought in the 1962 Indo-China war.

    Day 4: Tawang Monastery and Local Sightseeing

    Spend the day exploring Tawang Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in India and the second largest in Asia. Also, visit Urgelling Monastery and Tawang War Memorial, both significant cultural and historical sites.

    Day 5: Excursion to Madhuri Lake and Bum La Pass

    Take a day trip to Madhuri Lake (Sangetsar Lake), surrounded by mountains and pine forests. Then, head to Bum La Pass (subject to permit availability), which is located on the Indo-China border.

    Day 6: Tawang to Zemithang – Experience Local Culture

    Depart for Zemithang, a scenic village that reflects the traditional Monpa culture. Visit the Gorsam Chorten, a large Buddhist stupa, and spend the day learning about the unique traditions and daily lives of the Monpa people.

    Day 7: Zemithang to Bomdila

    Travel back towards Bomdila, stopping at picturesque points along the way. In Bomdila, visit the Bomdila Viewpoint and Craft Centre, where you can explore handicrafts and artifacts unique to the region.

    Day 8: Bomdila to Nameri National Park

    Drive to Nameri National Park, a serene nature reserve known for birdwatching and river rafting. Upon arrival, check in to an eco-lodge and spend the evening by the river.

    Day 9: Nameri Safari and Adventure Activities

    Enjoy an early morning birdwatching safari through Nameri National Park to spot rare birds and other wildlife. Later, try river rafting on the Jia Bhoroli River for a thrilling experience.
