  • The Imphal Valley covers 1843 sq km and comprises one-tenth of the area of Manipur. You can witness the beautiful rivers that flow down to the Valley are Imphal river, Khuga, Iril, Thoubal, and Sekmai.
  • The climate is very calm and serene and you can visit various Hindu temples that are spread all over the city. The mesmerizing view of the surrounding landscape makes it an amazing idyllic holiday destination to rejuvenate you.
  • The Ima Market also called Mother’s Market is said to have begun in the 16th century. It is said to be the only market in the world that is run by all women; a place where equality is preached and practiced.
  • For any visitor who visits North-East India, the primary attraction of the state is the Loktak Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Bishnupur District which is 48kms from Imphal City. A beautiful stretch of water resembling a miniature inland sea and it is believed that a day spent at Loktak Lake is a lifetime of memory.
  • A beautiful village known for its pottery tucked in the Nongmaiching Hills, the Andro village in Manipur is the confluence of scenic beauty, pleasant climate, and extremely warm hospitality.
  • Kangla Fort, known as a historical and archaeological site, has a special place in the hearts and minds of the Manipuri people. It is still dotted with several shrines that are still revered by the locals and people of the adjoining Northeast states.

  • To visit MANIPUR no entry permits are required for Indians or foreigners.
  • Foreigners must, however, register themselves at the Foreigner Registration Office (District Superintendent of Police) within 24 hours of entry to each state. In addition, the permit exemption doesn’t apply to citizens of specified countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, and China, who continue to require prior approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs before their visit.
  • Do carry comfortable footwear and clothing which will blend with nature. Traveling with toddlers and infants is not recommended as safari should be the least noisy activity for the best experience!
  • Carry adequate cash in Indian currency as ATMs might not be available in remote areas

Next, explore the Shree Govindajee Temple, a serene temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, known for its unique architecture. In the afternoon, visit the Manipur State Museum to learn about the state’s rich cultural heritage.

    Evening Option: Take a stroll through Ima Keithel (Mother’s Market), a unique all-women market selling local crafts, textiles, and produce. The market is an excellent place to experience Manipur’s traditional way of life.

    Day 2: Day Excursion to Loktak Lake

    After breakfast, head out for a day trip to Loktak Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India, famed for its floating phumdis (vegetation mats). The lake offers mesmerizing views and is an ideal spot for nature lovers. Explore the Sendra Island viewpoint for panoramic views of the lake and spot migratory birds and fishermen going about their daily lives on traditional boats.

    For those interested in nature and conservation, a visit to the Keibul Lamjao National Park, the only floating national park in the world and home to the endangered Sangai deer, can be arranged (permit required).

    Day 3: Imphal Local Sightseeing and Departure

    On your final day, visit the War Cemeteries in Imphal, maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, to pay homage to soldiers who lost their lives during World War II.
